Traditionally, this tea is often enjoyed by the Japanese as a companion to food and is considered a classic "everyday tea." This large-leaf tea is obtained from the lower shoots of the tea plant. The leaves are rich in minerals but contain up to 70% less caffeine than Gyokuro teas, which are made from young shoots. After infusion, the regularly processed leaves reveal their true size and their fine leaf structure. The taste is soft, with a delicate, subtle sweetness and only a hint of grassiness. Its unobtrusive flavor makes this tea ideal for both beginners and long-time green tea drinkers.
